Risk warning
Investing in tokens representing economic rights over sports projects carries a high level of risk. You could lose all the capital you invest. Returns are not guaranteed, there may be no market in which to sell your tokens and the investment is not covered by any guarantee scheme. Only invest what you can afford to lose.
The content of this website is general information. It is not personalised investment advice or a recommendation tailored to your circumstances. Before investing, read each project's documentation and, if needed, consult an independent professional adviser.
1. Loss of capital and no guaranteed returns
- You may lose part or all of the money you invest.
- Returns are not guaranteed and may be zero.
- Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Projections and examples are estimates, not promises.
2. Sports project activity risk
The revenue linked to the tokens depends on the actual activity of the sports project: ticketing, sponsorship, naming rights and event rentals. This revenue may fall or disappear due to factors such as:
- Lower attendance.
- Loss or reduction of sponsors.
- Poor sporting results or relegation of the club.
- Temporary or permanent closures, works, sanctions or loss of the facilities' licences.
- Force majeure: pandemics, natural disasters, conflicts or restrictions imposed by authorities.
- Financial difficulties of the club, the owner or the sports project operator.
3. Liquidity risk
You may not be able to sell your tokens when you want or at the price you expect. A secondary market may not exist or may be very limited. There may be transfer restrictions, lock-up periods or a lack of buyers. You should not count on being able to recover your investment before the expected term.
4. Price volatility
If a market exists, token prices may change significantly and quickly. They may not reflect the value of the underlying rights.
5. Technology risk
- Smart contracts: may contain bugs or vulnerabilities that cause losses.
- Blockchain networks: may suffer congestion, outages, forks or attacks.
- Wallets: operating errors, such as sending tokens to the wrong address, are usually irreversible.
- Loss of keys: if you lose your private keys or recovery phrase, you may permanently lose access to your tokens.
- Cyberattacks: phishing, impersonation or unauthorised access. Never share your keys. See our security recommendations.
6. Counterparty and operator risk
Token performance depends on the sports project owner or operator, the platform operator and other providers meeting their obligations. Their insolvency, default or cessation of business may affect your investment.
7. Custody risk
If your tokens or funds are held by a third-party custodian, there is a risk that it may suffer losses, attacks, operational failures or insolvency. If you hold them yourself, you are responsible for protecting your keys.
8. Regulatory risk
The regulation of crypto-assets and tokenised assets is evolving. Depending on the rights each token grants, Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on markets in crypto-assets (MiCA) or securities regulation, such as MiFID II and Spanish Law 6/2023 of 17 March on Securities Markets and Investment Services, may apply. In Spain, these markets are supervised by the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV).
Information on the regulatory regime applicable to each issuance is published in its documentation. Regulatory changes may affect the issuance, transfer, taxation or value of the tokens, and may even prevent them from being marketed.
9. Tax
Investing in tokens may have tax consequences that depend on your personal circumstances and on current legislation, which may change. Consult a tax adviser before investing.
10. No guarantee scheme coverage
This investment is not covered by the Spanish Deposit Guarantee Fund (Fondo de Garantía de Depósitos) or the Investment Guarantee Fund (Fondo de Garantía de Inversiones). It is not a bank deposit.
11. Recommendations
- Only invest money you can afford to lose.
- Diversify: do not concentrate your savings in a single project or asset type.
- Read each project's documentation carefully, including its specific risks.
- Make sure you understand the product before investing. If in doubt, do not invest.
- Consult independent financial and tax advisers.
